Elizabeth Swain: 'Brushing With Other People's Local History': Thursday 6th January 2022

The fourth meeting in the 2021-22 season of the Antiquaries is a talk by Dr Elizabeth Swain, entitled 'Brushes With Other People's Local History' on Thursday 6th January 2022. Due to the decision of the Society's committee to postpone holding conventional meetings for the time being, it will be in the form of a live Zoom meeting at 7.30 pm. The link to join will be sent to members by the previous day, Wednesday 5th January 2022.

Dr Swain is a retired GP with experience of several spells of medical work overseas. She is also a member of the Antiquaries and has spoken at Members' Night. In this talk, she will address some of the issues surrounding our interest in local history and its role in the wider historical context. She will share stories of her times in East Yorkshire, Nigeria, Gaza and Albania and of how their local history has been linked with events nearer home.
